(Northeast Indiana Poets Of Every Type and Style)
Northeast Indiana P.O.E.T.S. (NIPOETS) was organized in 1990. The purpose of the organization is to
- inspire the appreciation of poetry;
- to create an atmosphere where poets can achieve success in the accomplishments of their poetic goals; and
- to provide a community resource for the writing and presentation of poetry.
NIPOETS is a member of Arts United of Fort Wayne and is associated with the Indiana State Federation of Poetry Clubs and the The National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Inc.
NIPOETS meets on the second Wednesday of every month from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Main Allen County Library, 900 Library Plaza, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. The public is always invited.
Membership is easy! Attend the meetings, help with the club or just enjoy the poetry. Membership is $20 a year, which includes membership in the Indiana State Federation of Poetry Clubs and the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Inc. Members receive all three quarterly newsletters and too many bonuses to list. Come join us with your favorite poems!
Being associated with the Indiana State Federation of Poetry Clubs gives us the opportunity to attend two State Conventions each year. The first is in May and hosted by one of the state poetry clubs. In May 2006, NIPOETS hosted the Spring Convention in Fort Wayne. The Fall Festival is held during the latter part of October at one of the Indiana State Parks. At the Fall Festival, which is a two-day affair, members can submit poems to contests in a variety of categories and win cash prizes. Members receive a newsletter from both NIPOETS and the ISFPC informing them of upcoming affairs and poetry contests. The National Federation of State Poetry Societies holds an annual convention where all members can attend and/or submit their poems and win cash prizes also.
